OUR COUNSELLORS ARE TRAINED IN PERSON-CENTRED THERAPY. THAT MEANS WE BELIEVE THAT YOU ARE THE ONLY EXPERT ON YOURSELF. COUNSELLORS WILL ASSIST YOU TO IDENTIFY CHANGES YOU WISH TO MAKE AND HELP YOU TO FIND WAYS TO ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS. WE ARE HERE TO HELP YOU FIND YOUR WAY.

Problematic digital media use is classified as a behavioural disorder, which in extreme form has the symptoms of addiction. Unlike substance use disorders, the goal is not to abstain from use of digital media (there are exceptions), but to reduce harm and eliminate unhealthy use.

Not everyone who has identified that their use of digital media is a problem needs counselling. Some only need to learn new habits. Think of it as changing your digital diet. Eat less and discipline yourself to consume a healthy digital diet.

Together, we evaluate your needs and work with you to construct an action plan that will lead to the changes you want. We provide a variety of approaches aimed at breaking patterns of unhealthy use and assisting you to engage in a world that is not dominated by digital media. Additionally, we provide information and resources to help you obtain your goals.

We offer counselling and consultations for parents who want to help their child break harmful habits. We will assist family members to understand the causes of digital dependencies and create a plan for reduction of problematic use. We encourage the child to come to counselling.

We understand the stresses on young people and how important digital media and devices are to them. Much of the time, excessive internet use is a sign of personal issues related to self-identity and self-esteem. We don’t try to take the phone away. We journey with our clients to explore needs and find motivation to live a fuller life. In some cases, we create digital detox plans and short-term abstinence plans that involve the family.
